8×10″ oil on canvas I’m determined to figure out plein air painting. I’ve found a spot not to far away where I can go to paint the sunset, so I’m going to do a series of paintings from this location until I figure out the process better. I painted this one last night. I likedContinue reading “Sunset Over Harris Ranch”

Brothers and Cezanne
This one is pretty much done. I say pretty much done because I feel like I still need to take a closer look at the older boy. But their mom loves it, so I’m in good shape. I was a little worried about how thick and rough this one was getting. It has a lotContinue reading “Brothers and Cezanne”
A fun start
48X36 oil on canvas I sketched this in today and I’m going to let it dry before working on it again. I have been itching to move away from realism, but at the same time want to paint certain subject matter, like landscape and figures, without getting caught up in trying to represent exactly whatContinue reading “A fun start”

But I stopped and looked and loved it. Happy accident. We’ve been making a lot of pizza lately andContinue reading “Floating Olive with Big Shine Mark”
Happy New Year!🎆🎊
Another late night critterscape. I wait until everyone is in bed to paint. My kids don’t mind me painting while they are home from school over Christmas vacation, but I’ve found that I can’t concentrate on painting while they are all going different directions. And then I feel frustrated. So my solution is to paintContinue reading “Happy New Year!🎆🎊”

Foxy Foxy
Progress pictures of my foxes today. 4×4″ Fun to paint. This is my process, I sketch with burnt or raw umber, whichever tube I find first. And then paint from dark to light. Then background. It’s not always the same, but when I work wet on wet “alla prima” this is what I typically do.Continue reading “Foxy Foxy”
