Here’s another painting of trees at Manitau (dog) park. 5×7 oil on canvas. I wanted to paint this because I like the bright colors of the changing fall leaves contrasted with the dark tangle of trees and bushes behind them.

Morning paper-progress
More progress on the stuff in the living room. Next I’ll work on her skin/hand/face. I need to let all the white dry so I can bring up the light higher in value. And let the background dry so I can glaze it and push it back and bring in some color.
Cypress Tree
Still workinng away on this one. I am working on putting in some atmospheric perspective. Pushing back parts of the tree and branches. I also changed the landscape some more. I didn’t like my rocks so I painted them out. I will add something else in eventually, like some bushes. My next step will beContinue reading “Cypress Tree”

oil on canvas 24X48″ Here’s another painting I did for my sister to go along with the giant still life of pears. She has them both hanging in her beautiful house. She likes oversized still life of fruit.
Flying Nautilus
16X24 oil on canvas I grew up near the coast in Northern California. As a kid my dad would go abalone diving in Fort Bragg with his friends and I would play around on the cliffs with my sisters. It’s a wonder we are still alive. At the end of the abalone diving day weContinue reading “Flying Nautilus”
Still life! Alla Prima Toilet Paper
6X6″ oil on canvas Alla prima seems like such a fancy term to go along with a roll of toilet paper. But that’s what we have here. Alla prima is a painting technique used by artists since the beginning of time. It means wet on wet painting or “first attempt.” Usually this type of paintingContinue reading “Still life! Alla Prima Toilet Paper”
