Whenever I just want to paint something, I grab a bunch of little cuties. You know, the little mandarin oranges. Are they called Cuties around the world? I think I like my oil painting better…but this is watercolor #1. Or really #2 if you count the little Self Portrait I did in 2003. I see one littleContinue reading “Watercolor Cuties & Oil Cuties & another marathon”

Back in the day. I love this picture our school photographer, Mark Honbo, caught. 1993 UC Davis. Go Ags!
Any guesses where we went next? I have a few more Spring Break day trips to paint and blog about. After hanging around Ukiah for a couple of days we decided to take a day trip to San Francisco. SF is 100 miles south of Ukiah straight down 101. Growing up I made that trip many times withContinue reading “Spring Break-Day 4”
8X8 oil on canvas Over the next week or so I am going to paint pictures of all the places we went over Spring Break. Can you guess where we went first ? I painted this still life of mandarin oranges this morning. I love the loose, fast, carefree feel to this one. I was going to paint strawberries but we didn’t have any, so I grabbed a bunch of mandarins and set them up in the early morning light. Their shadows were getting shorter as the sunContinue reading “Little Cuties”
oil on canvas 24X48″ Here’s another painting I did for my sister to go along with the giant still life of pears. She has them both hanging in her beautiful house. She likes oversized still life of fruit.
30X48″ oil on canvas You know what they say about the weather in Idaho? Wait 15 minutes, it will change. I learned quickly that Idahoans like to say that. I’ve been living in Idaho since 2003 and I’m on board with that saying now. When there’s thunder and lightning, it pours rain, hails, and randomlyContinue reading “Boise Sky After Thunderstorm”
Today I am showing a work in progress that I started yesterday. I started two new landscapes. I have the general idea down on canvas, now I need to let this one dry so I can build on the color. I really love the freeness of painting the foothills and Idaho sky. I’m lookingContinue reading “Boise Foothills WIP”
16X24 oil on canvas This cool and handsome dude is my nephew Josh. He is at the same time the most amazing and goofiest kid I know. These Millwards over here think you are the best Josh. A while back I told him that I wanted to paint his portrait and all in one motionContinue reading “Little Sisters Birthday Party”
