Spring Boise Foothills WIP
Saturday I started this little guy. It needs a few more passes at it. I’m going to work on my patience and spend more than a day on it. I’m donating this to my daughters school art auction, just as a little silent auction piece. So I wanted to pick a subject that would appealContinue reading “Spring Boise Foothills WIP”
Spring Break- Ukiah
Oil on Canvas 8X10 Still chronicling sprig break over here on my little art blog. This has been a mostly fun project for me, and is forcing me to try some things I’ve never done before, for better or worse. This piece I’m posting today is one that I painted last year after Spring Break.Continue reading “Spring Break- Ukiah”
Spring Break- First Stop

Mendocino Headlands
30X40″ oil on canvas Yesterday I started this Mendocino California beach landscape. I sketched out the initial scene quickly and will wait for it to dry to work on values and create more depth. There are 2 parts of this painting that I love and won’t change. The sky and that one tree sticking upContinue reading “Mendocino Headlands”
Flying Nautilus
16X24 oil on canvas I grew up near the coast in Northern California. As a kid my dad would go abalone diving in Fort Bragg with his friends and I would play around on the cliffs with my sisters. It’s a wonder we are still alive. At the end of the abalone diving day weContinue reading “Flying Nautilus”

Today I am showing a work in progress that I started yesterday. I started two new landscapes. I have the general idea down on canvas, now I need to let this one dry so I can build on the color. I really love the freeness of painting the foothills and Idaho sky. I’m lookingContinue reading “Boise Foothills WIP”
Plein Air
oil on canvas 11X14 In the fall of 2015 just as the leaves were starting to change color I took a Plein Air painting class with a local Plein Air group taught by Geoff Krueger. Geoff is a fantastic landscape artist and paints the most wonderful trees, riverscapes, foothills, oceanscapes, etc. This class was heldContinue reading “Plein Air”
Jill’s Clouds Over Foothills
30X24″ oil on canvas Last fall I painted several Boise landscapes. These are the hills right by my house. Boise is known for sudden thunderstorms that come out of nowhere, release all their fury, and move on leaving beautiful clear bright blue skies. This painting is how I see the sky and hills after aContinue reading “Jill’s Clouds Over Foothills”

She looks just like her mom. Running partners are something special, really good matches don’t come along very often and once you find one it’s likeContinue reading “Sweet Sixteen”
