Hulen Meadow

I put a tiny little bit more time into this plein air painting that I did while in Ketchum, Idaho. I had a great weekend of painting, the mountains are unusual and amazing pretty much everywhere you turn. I put together this slideshow to show the progression of the piece. I put it in thisContinue reading “Hulen Meadow”

Ketchum

11X14 oil on deep edge canvas I Spent the morning painting in this meadow in Ketchum. It was beautiful and cold. This meadow is right next to the Wood River and a small outlet runs through it. While I was painting a biker and 2 dogs visited me and then went right down this trailContinue reading “Ketchum”

Sun Valley

Rimrock

11X14 oil on panel I went out last Thursday morning to Rimrock Reserve, a small bit of preserved natural open space near my house, and painted this plein air. I am enjoying the peace of plein air painting more and more. I’ve made a pact with myself to be at peace with theContinue reading “Cottonwood, Sage, and Tablerock”

Tablerock

6X8″ oil on canvas Today I went and sat in the back of my car as it rained and painted this little scene of rural but right in town Boise. There are little dirt roads here and there that make you feel like you are in the country. With downtown just a mile away. JustContinue reading “Tablerock”

Morning Tree

8X10″ oil on canvas

Rimrock Reserve

5X7 plein air oil on panel I’m focusing on creating a decent composition and creating depth through color. In this one I tried to make the sage brush in the front higher in chroma than the trees behind it. And I really lightened the trees on the hill.
