Next paintings started. This is another painting from my trip to Natural Bridges beach in Santa Cruz. So many wonderful things there to paint. This one is of people just doing their thing on the beach. The walking girl is mostly done except for her face and some adjustments here and there. I love theContinue reading “Girl on the Beach”

Morning Paper-Finished!
I finished and signed morning paper today. I glazed in a little color onto the floor, glazed the shirt which helped integrate the little floral print and brighten parts of the shirt, cleaned up the lines on the bookcase, and added a little color to the bright sunlight on her face. Oh, andContinue reading “Morning Paper-Finished!”
Flowery shirt!
I did it!
More progress on Morning Paper
I’ve spent some more time working on parts of Morning Paper. I worked on her hand and outstretched arm. I wanted her hand to look relaxed and feminine and I feel like I got it there. Sometimes I look at paintings of women’s hands and they look masculine, other times too dainty. Hands are aContinue reading “More progress on Morning Paper”
Morning paper-progress
More progress on the stuff in the living room. Next I’ll work on her skin/hand/face. I need to let all the white dry so I can bring up the light higher in value. And let the background dry so I can glaze it and push it back and bring in some color.
Morning Paper
Here’s a new and different (for me) figure painting/portrait. I have been working away at getting paint all over it today. There’s quite a bit of work to do pretty much all over it but I’m happy with the start and that I figured out a nice way to frame the image.
Natural Bridges Beach, Santa Cruz
I’m nearly done and feel like sharing. I like the way it’s coming along, the painting was experimental because I’ve never done a painting with so many figures within a landscape. What I learned from this one is that I want to paint a beach scene with about 50 figures. I want all the peopleContinue reading “Natural Bridges Beach, Santa Cruz”
Santa Cruz
More California Dreaming
Here’s another Santa Cruz beach scene I’m working on. I love the beach so much. I had fun people watching on the beach on this perfect, warm, and sunny Santa Cruz day. I decided to paint the whole scene. This piece is in color but I converted the photo to black and white because IContinue reading “More California Dreaming”
Finished! 😀
This one was a pleasure to paint from beginning to end. Originally I drew this scene in pulled way back so you could see 2 surfers as well, and the girls and wave were pretty small. I redrew it way closer up. I felt intimidated by the wave and water at first because I haven’tContinue reading “Finished! 😀”
