Thank you!
His work is intense, incredible, and a little scary. I love his portrait of Queen Elizabeth that he did late in life. It seems like he softened up as he aged, maybe? Or he wanted the Queen to be beautiful and not haunting. I love his brushwork. You like his work?
i really like his self portrait Reflection. He definitely makes me want to get a Cremnitz white. Do you think the color Flesh Tone is a good starting point for portraits? i only have CYM/white right now.
For this portrait I used titanium white, cad red light, yellow ochre, raw sienna, burnt sienna, raw umber. I usually use some combination of these colors. Sometimes I use blue/purple colors in shadows. Or reds in the shadows. I used to use raw umber a lot but it was pretty dark. I haven’t used the Flesh Tone color.
WOWZA! Jill this is sooo AMAZING! How could you not SMILE! Yay!! 😄😊😃

I made a super thick impasto raw sienna paint for one of mine that reminds me of peanut butter!

Thank you! Their mom is a fantastic musician that feels everything deeply. She was over the moon. That’s why I do it.

Oh, that’s so cool. I’m one of those deep feelers too (HSP) and I can really relate. ❤

Love it. You are very good at people. That rhino next to the kiddo in the party hat…the people on the beach…these smiley girls. Love them.

Thank you! There’s something about seeing a person come to life on canvas that doesn’t get old. Do you do portraits?

I do not! Don’t know why. I doodle on the phone faces and stuff all the time, but for some reason, painting people has never even come to mind. Weird.
